I am writing to you with great concern regarding the SEPA Review on Spiketon Heights Plat.  I am the President of the Sky Island Homeowners’ Association Board of Directors.

It is my understand that obtaining an easement through our Division 7, which will lead to very heavy traffic through our development, is a last ditch effort for the promoters of this project.  We are VERY concerned about the volume of traffic this will cause on roads that are not meant to handle such volumes.  Already we fear for our children’s lives with the heavy traffic flow on Sky Island Drive…and NO signals.  We have been given the impression that the City cannot afford a signal to be installed at 97th and Sky Island Drive, and that we should consider paying for it ourselves.  Now…there is a proposal to add even more traffic?  …and this proposal does not end with more traffic on Sky Island Drive….traffic to 84 new homes would be routed through our narrow residential streets?

I know there are impacts to the views of our homeowners in Sky Island Division 1, which may not be of concern to you, but it is unfortunate that quality of life in Sky Island may be severely impacted.  It seems amazing to me that 84 homes could even be built on that hill.  Aren’t there other issues with this as well?  It would be helpful to see a copy of the checklist and a readable version of the plat map.  Would you please send these to me?

The Sky Island Homeowners Association vehemently objects to the approval of this project.

Please help me understand how this could possibly be a good thing.  I would appreciate any help you could provide to educate me and let me know what else we need to do or who else we should speak to about this situation.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Beth Beatty, President
